Ok Prethen et al,

I bought this under the premise that it is a proof. Now that I see photos of it myself, which of course I will take again to get a little more clear out of the flip, I'm concerned.

So, thoughts on if it's a proof, and of course what grade does everyone think? Thanks.

If it is a proof (hard to tell from pics, but it looks right) then I highly doubt it would grade higher than a 63, the thing with proofs is it's all about eye appeal, and the spots in the right obverse fields and what appears a few slidemarks on the coin make me believe it would grade a 62. now if you post some more pics it could be a different story

It's really hard to tell through that holder. If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say MS63 with a softer strike. Waiting for better photos :-)

I think I would try to get rid of the scratches on the holder before I would take some pictures...

I wish I could see it in hand.
My guess would be MS-63.
PR-63 maybe

Looks like it could be a Proof. I can't grade the coin with those pictures, though.

I am interested in seeing better pictures as well, but it looks like a proof to me.

New pics replaced old pics in original post. Boy I wish these were easy to photo. I need to go to the photography section and see what settings SuperDave uses....

It does have some appearances of a Proof, especially the rims. Is the edge especially flat, no rounded corners...sort of a sharp edge? If so...definitely Proof. I don't care for what the surfaces look like in those photos though. The fields look dead. On a Proof (at least for me) that's a coin I'd rather not have...it's gotta have halfway decent mirrors. Still, unless it shows signs of cleaning, it'll probably slab and I would definitely send it in to one of the services for slabbing.
