Hello,
Can anyone pinpoint the variety of this 1870 5 cent?
I have checked everywhere for a high 7o... but, NO luck so far...
at the same time, please check out the
obverse side. There is an interesting die break (or die crack?) right at the I of vIctoria.
Is it possible that this die break had caused the I to become nearly 2 times as wide as the other I?

Hi, hhbkiddo, Yes.. I would say it's a die crack, and I think that it did cause the "I" to enlarge.

I looked at my 1870, looks normal, no die breaks.

yours looks like a "wide rim" variety to me.
