Honestly, I would just like to find the cheapest reputable place to find all of the State Quarters in P & D, proof and silver proof. I got my new dansco album but I'm not interested in scouring hundreds of rolls. I would rather spend time on my true love, Lincoln cents. But I do want to fill this album and put it away. Sources would be appreciated. Thank you

I was wondering the same thing. Where can you buy cheap BU State Quarters?

To eliminate "shipping/handling" charges....."online fees".....postage or whatever, I'd suggest just going to your local coin shop if you can find one .....or have one. Even if it's a couple few hours drive away from where you live, I'd still be worth the one trip there for what you're wanting. Except for a couple years, all of these can be had for pretty cheap. Even look for a nearby coin show coming your way. But, I really don't believe that ebay, magazines, or "online avenues" would be the "cheapest" route.

Try a coin show if there is one near you. You might find a dealer that just purchased a set and is looking for a quick turnaround. If not, there should be plenty of other options available there.

I was checking ebay and did find several P&D sets available for around $60 with free shipping. Seems reasonable. The proof sets and silver proofs may be another story!

Definitely try e-Bay, it took me about a month to score the 56 clad proof and 56 silver proof quarters in individual auctions. Some dealers were also selling circulation P&D pairs with opening bids as low as 99c. As for the proofs, the clads went from 99c to about $7.50 (Hawaii)for a total of $115, whereas the silvers were anywhere from $4-$5 per to $35 for each of the 1999 quarters and about $400 total. I haven't used a Dansco album in about 30 years, the old sliders used to tone my coins badly. I bought a pair of the 12x12 Capital Plastic holders designed expressly for the quarters and they look fabulous housed that way. Originally I was looking for the cherrywood presentation case with air-tire holders, but could not find it without the coins, which I reckoned would be cheaper if bought individually

I am almost done with this set. All I need are the silver proofs for New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut. I bought all of the coins on ebay (except the 2000 proofs which I bought way back in 2000).

I would check with your local coin shops. My dealer has BU wrapped bank rolls he is now selling for $11-$12, mostly P mints. I have bought a few from him. if you have a dealer near you doing this you could get some rolls, save what you want and use the extras to trade for the ones you need.

Congratulations and good for you, hugemistake2003, for getting your silver set together. When displayed together they are so impressive to my non collector friends. Wish I had bought the 1999 silver proof set at the issue price $31.95 back in the day, among other things! I noticed that my GPO 1999 and 2001 silver quarters are starting to tone, so there is a good argument in favor of breaking them out of the GPO holders.
