Unopened Mint Sets - Coin Community Forum

volfan New Member United States 37 Posts	Posted 07/14/2006 08:35 am I realize there are some sellers making money from buyer's perceptions that they may find a rare coin in these "unopened" mint sets, but does anyone know of some good articles discussing this scam? I'm trying to convince a friend that he could get the same coins by simply buying mint sets from a dealer, but he's convinced these were sealed by the mint and have never been opened. Any ideas? nohope587 Pillar of the Community United States 5953 Posts	Posted 07/14/2006 09:16 am Way back when.. I am not sure the exact date the mint sold proof sets in sealed envelopes. There are some still floating around that may or may not contain undiscovered Gems but it is entirely to easy to open a set check it and re-seal it. I do not buy sealed sets for a premium unless I know the owner and they have had them since the mint shipped them. Report this Post to the Staff
