Official First Day Coin Cover From US Mint...question?

This may be a silly question but I have to ask...

Why does the US Mint sell these 1st day coin covers for so much?

Looking at the Quarters and Nickel 1st Day Coin Covers, they want
$19.95 each. Looks like you can buy all the quarters still, because they have not sold out. I did notice they reduced the limit to 50,000 on the one that just came out (2006 Colorado Official First Day Coin Cover).

I do not see anything in the RedBook to value these, and I do not see a demand on ebay for these.

Am I missing something?

Hi Tim

I dont think there is anyway to justify the price of these first day covers, But I'm sure that they do sell some of them,,

and I can only assume that these folks who buy them believe that at some future time the collectability of such things as these will make them worth while.

I personaly am not one of them .
