Okay folks, here is breaking news. Today I officially laumched plans to hold the very first CoinFest. The event will be held in Dover, Delaware on Sunday August 7, 2005. This will be a community event with many local and national businesses helping to promote the event. Breakdown of event will be one very large sandbox filled with Lincoln Cents and various other coins. Kids from ages 5 through 17 will scoop the coins and take them to a waiting table to fill their Lincoln Folders. Of course they keep the coins, and several prizes will be awarded to kids who fill the most holes, find certain dates, find special coins, and so forth. Other attractions will include the Delaware State Police cruiser, a VW Bug with a large Trooper hat on the roof. The Dover Police D.A.R.E. program car. The local fire department will have a truck there. Other program sponsers include K Mart, Howard Johnsons, UPS Store, YMCA, boys and girls club, Boy and girls scouts. Wachovia bank, and PNC bank. Other sponsers will be coming on board before the event. Many are expressing interest already. This will be our largest coins program ever attempted. We are working out the details with the Radio Stations, Newspapers, Comcast cable, and local news stations to get involved. CoinFest is going to be a spinoff of my firm, and we are hoping to make this into an annual event, with plans to create simular events in cities around the country. There will be a website coming with all the exciting news. Coming Soon http://www.coinfest.org

ND, I think this is a great idea. Events like this could do a lot towards making numismatics more visible to the community.
If any members here would like to contribute either time or coins to this event, please email me.

Okay folks, the website is up and running and up to date. I would love to hear some constructive critisism about the site? Something needed? Something removed? Now remember that I am a coin dealer, not a website developer, so my areas of how to build a site are pretty slim. So please be kind.....

Site looks good. Why don't you try changing Event Dates - Locations to Event Dates/Places. It may fit in the bar that way. Also, on your supporters page: Bobby131313's Collectibles, Inc. and all words in COINAF should be capitalized. Sorry, not trying to be a PITA but I know you want it right.

I would like to take this show on the road in 2006. Four U.S. cities.
I want to get some thoughts soon, as it takes time to get all the necessary permits and licenses. Indy will rank in that list for all my Hoosier friends.
So pick 3 places that you would like to see CoinFest. Once we get about 10 cities, we will make a poll and the 3 other than Indy will be decided by majority. Now, just to be fair, this will not be limited to this forum. At a later date, this idea will also appear on the coinfest website allowing everyone in the country to vote.
Now before anyone asks, Indy was picked as a personal preferrence of mine. I absolutely love the city and just need a good excuse to visit again. Since no major coin show will head there, I thought that I would create one of my own.
I am securing national sponsers to make the "road" show possible. I will of course keep everyone up to date.

Bring it here! San Francisco, CA. Heart of the 4th largest metro area in the country, great coin history, beautiful scenery, good food. Whacky politics, and where else can you have me invite you for dinner both at home and at the restaurant of your choice? I have literally run from my workplace across the GG bridge and into the Marin headlands (part of Golden Gate Nat Rec Area-your tax dollars at work!), where I have seen bobcats- where else can one say that?
For my second vote , Charlotte, NC, also with a stellar numismatic history, nations second largest banking center after the big apple (which doesn't have a coin history), near the highest mountains in eastern America, and I guarantee that my sister will take you out for dinner and I'll hit her up for Wachovia corp donations (She's a VP in investor relations).

Hey, don't blame me. If I go in and do anything with your profile, you lose your avatar, so you know I wasn't in there doing anything. Don't you love that little glitch? At least you know I'm not messing with anything!

COINAF is all in capitals....
CoinCommunity also got the plug on the supporters page since many of you have been contributing in many ways. I thank all you for helping to make this dream possible.
