As a young child I found a 1969 penny with an image of the Apollo 11 moon landing stamped into it. Can anyone identify who may have stamped this coin or where it may have come from? Are there others like it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Phillyodog

A picture would help. There are actually quite a few "counter-stamped" coins out there. these were stamped with images ranging from the 50 states to Abraham Lincoln. These are novelty coins, stamped outside the US Mint.

Thanks omahaorange. I have a great pic but I am having trouble downloading it to the blog because it is too big of a file. I don't know how to reduce it to the 90k size limit.

Reduce the size. Additionally you can also reduce the quality of the jpg. That helps to make the file smaller keeping the picture still at a reasonable size.

There are numerous free programs for simple photo editing available. I believe Windows Photo Gallery will also do this.

You can find cents counterstamped with all sorts of things, like presidents and states. I assume it dates from sometime around the first moon landing, though it's not an official NASA souvenir. Given that whoever made it has gone to the trouble to fish out an actual 1969 cent, it might be a little more interesting than others.

I found this coin in change shortly after the moon landing. I thought that was clever to use the actual date. What impressed me was that the person who made this took the time to create a very detailed die. I don't know how much effort that takes.
Thanks for the reply
