Here's a topic. Many coins feature or commemorate some kind of a landmark or an event. Have you been/visited/attended any of those. For US collectors one obvious example would be a Lincoln Memorial (not for me, though, I haven't been to DC). Any others? And as a Darksider collector I'm interested in what fellas from other parts of the world have to say.
With the events, it has to be that you were present there (say, at a coronation), not just watched it on TV.
Warning in advance, I have quite a lot to post here, but I'd like to see other people experiences.

Not me but my wife was living in Namibia when this coin was issued for collectors: This coin was issued for Namibia's 5 Year Independence. Before 1990 the country was known as South West Africa. Ken

The change from Marcos to Cory Aquino in 1986, a very tense time I experienced first hand. I remember it was roughly 3pm and I was looking at three buildings from afar, admiring the nice green shrubbery at their grounds, only when the shrubs and greenery moved did I realized it was soldiers and tanks....many ..

Wow, Nic, that's some experience! Well, next of mine is the Registan Square in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Tamerlane made this city the capital of his (Persian) empire. I visited the place quite a few times as I grew up in the region. Featured on 1989 USSR 5 rubles
