They should make a new Mercury dime! 90 percent silver too! IN CIRCULATION!! Lol, sorry I couldn't make it realistic.

A 'finishing' touch to my idea for the 2016 'Mercury' Dimes. Cupro-Nickel Clads to have P,D or S mintmarks on obverse. 90% Silver coins to have mintmark in original 1916 location on reverse. (2016-S Silver Proof, and the Commemorative Set's 2016-D Uncirculated) If you thought the 2009 Lincoln LN6 C&C Set was 'hot', the 2016 Dime Set done to my idea would be 'nuclear fusion'!

Lots of good ideas, none of which will ever happen. We will end up with something like America's greatest cities series or something. Only to be followed with the "greatest town parks" series of dimes.

I'm pretty sure they're thinking of doing US monuments next. They've done states, presidents, presidents' wives, national parks, so what's next? To resurrect the Mercury dime: has that sort of thing been done before in history? I find it funny that none of the coins say who the people on them are. Jefferson looks like Joe Everyman! @Metalman: Technically you're correct, but I think the OP was talking about overall graphic design.

Florin,
Yes, but it got killed because of the Dems you couldnt get any votes to remove Rosevelt. If Reagan is to make it onto currence, it will most likley be the 50$ as Grant does not have tons of modern supporters. Basically no coin will change if you have to change somones political icon....

That was the problem created when we went from abstract images of Liberty to portraying real people. Removing or replacing that person will upset someone.
I am sure there was plenty of uproar when Franklin was removed from the Half Dollar, but his being on the One Hundred Dollar FRN probably softened that protest.

I wonder what aliens think of our leaders when they see our coinage.

Would be kind of nice to have a switch for the dime. I have an almost complete set of Roosevelt dimes, so it would be nice to have an end point and start something new. As far as Reagan, I thought he was possibly going on a commemorative dollar in 2013 or so? I wonder who would be considered if they put a real person on a new dime (instead of liberty or something)...another president: Reagan? Truman? Wilson?

I do not want to expand it, which wold require a new binder to fit the page. I ended my original Jefferson collection in 2003 and started a new album for the Westward Journey series and beyond. Of course, I did the same thing with the Washington quarters in 1998.

IMHO, the dime is just too darn small! The cent is bad enough, (in that respect), but I would like to see a 20-cent coin in it's place, and yes Lady Liberty to grace the Obv. Someone asked We have the presidents , their spouses, and niow, what next? You forgot to mention the "Mistresses"! They had a lot to do with the presidents, too! Some have become quite famous, (infamous maybe is a better word). Dick
