I just noticed that all coin denominations have had some change to them except the dime. The Zincoln had the 2009 and 2010 reverse changes. The nickel had the obverse and reverse changes. The quarters (not including the bicentennial) have been dong this since 1999. The Half...none (unless you count the bicentennial). Even the dollar coins are doing it, different reverses. When is the dime going to get it's turn at some different obverse/reverse designs (not including the 1996-W)?

I can understand neglected the half dollar, since it has not been released for circulation since 2001, but the dime deserves some attention. The 1996-W does not count because that was only a mint-mark.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Honestly, I think the dime needs a new look or composition or something. In general I also think that we should get lady liberty back on coins. I find classic coins with lady liberty much nicer looking than G.W's big nose.
What do you think should be done with the dime?

I agree. I think the dime deserves a new look. I would love to see something retro like "Return to Liberty" or something like that.

I would love to see Liberty return! Unfortunately, it is more like that the dime would be retired than Liberty will return to it. The best we can hope for is either a new Roosevelt portrait, or (in my opinion, more likely) a change to the reverse.

I totally agree. That dime has been going on 64 years now with no design change at all! I think that is some kind of record, isn't it?

The only other type I can think of that was semi-consistent for that long was the liberty quarter eagle through eagles(1839-1907); but even they had minor changes to the reverse with the motto/no motto varieties.

I would love to see a new take on the Mercury dime. Maybe FDR wearing a hat ;)

The dime has actually changed a couple of times , just off the top of my head, metal composition changed in 1965,mint mark location moved in 1968,along with other design enhancements through the course of the present dimes run. as far as complete design change, look what the mint has done to the Lincoln Cent and Washington quarters! That should give you some real time ideas of what they will do to the dime if and when they change the design.
