What does the Obverse look like. The clash would be on both sides, wouldn't it?

Sometimes the dies are polished and if one is damaged they will replace the bad one. But it's a die clash on a worn/polished a few times die. Note the thinnest of the 8 & 9 column tops. It gone through several clashes during it's life.

It is a die clash. check the OBV to see if there are any "prison bars". on Abe. that strong on the REV will most likely leave some on the OBV, as well. Like coop says, it has been "around the horn", a few times.

seal006, the clash is not always on both sides. You usually only see one or the other, but when they are on both sides - it's really cool. And, of course, the better the transfer of detail, the better.
