I know this will probably be impossible to do without pics, but I have a nickel that may be an error. I will try and get pics later. I have a cam, but the cord that connects the cam to computer broke and I haven't found a new one yet. The building on the back of the nickel is copper looking with none of the silver looking metal (nickel?) Could this be a possible planchet error or something? That is the best I can do to describe it.

If it is just the building, it is probably plating or paint. I can't think of a planchet error that would only affect Monticello.

You could do one better...you could provide the date and mintmark of the coin so we will know a little more about what you're talking about.

Sorry I should have done that. It is a 1986 P. The copper color is also all around the edge on the reverse. Anyone seen anything like this?
Rest in Peace

This happens on nickels that are left out of doors. But here is a real copper nickel.
