My opinion only ..... take all this with a grain of salt as I'm still learning and by no means an expert ....
This appears to me to be a possibly cleaned (dipped) coin in the technical grade of MS64 ...... maybe MS65. Logic as follows ....
Original Surfaces:
The seller has given some nice photos ..... and I would explore in hand the possibly that it has been dipped to remove toning.
If I had this in hand ..... I would explore the area on the obverse 9pm rim around the * that separates the words 'Columbian' and 'United'. Something 'different' going on there .... and heavy dippings tend to leave a minuscule mottled surface as a result of the chemical removal of surface layer.
Same comment on the reverse at the same location ..... in hand the mottled look of this area should be explored for signs of chemical removal (dipping).
Authenticity:
Get over that worry .... there were 1,550,405 of these distributed ..... on top of 950,000 1892 dated coins. Nobody in their right mind will counterfeit this coin at the prices it will sell for.
Grade:
I say this is MS64. Positives are the clean fields. Drawbacks are the significant bag hits on Columbus lower bust clothing and what might be a rim hit on the obverse at 12:00 above the letter "S". I could easily make a case for this being MS65 as well ...... all in all it is very well preserved.
Price:
Assuming this coin is not cleaned and could be slabbed by a
TPG .....
Greysheet MS63 is 60/65
Greysheet MS64 is 110/120
Greysheet MS65 is 355/375
Thats all I have to offer as this opinion.
Let us know how it turns out for you.
