George, don't lose the faith! You might have an exceptional rarity that's worth a lot of money even in VG8, like a 1926 far 6 nickel worth $165 in VG8...or a 1913 broad leaves dime...or a 1948 dollar or half dollar. Can you give us a list (denom and year only)of what you got? We'll tell you what to look for.

You may find coin prices at http://www.mycoincollecting.com/coin_catalog.html . When you look at ebay for prices you need to look at "Completed Prices". The rest are fantasies.

In a few weeks the 2011 edition of Charlton's guide to Canadian coins will be out. Because you are just an amateur like me you can prolly get away with last years guide that will be sold at a discount soon.

Well I checked out the 1947 penny. Looks to me like it has the small maple leaf after the 7 and the seven appears pointed . Here are some pics of it.

its a blunt 7 ML, maybe VF, not worth much sorry. What have you got in really good condition, i.e. red cents or silver coins without any wear on them?

Well, lets see. Lets begin with this fine pair of five cent pieces. Both are in great shape and sparkle just right when then sun shines upon them. Eyecatching to say the least about this 1938 and 1939 pair!

Maybe this 1937 quarter has played many a game of Pac Man but he's still in great shape!
