Somebody check behind my tired eyes and tell me that isn't a High 8 variety, which would narrow it down to 4 possibilities.

looks like the VAM 3 0/0...., the O/0 has a uniqueness to it, although its a common VAM it has some neat gouging in the hair and on the face... check with VM for VAM 3, at the bottom of the page is the mint mark like yours.......G

Dave the VAM 3 doesn't boast the high 8, but it does like like one to me...

VW only lists the VAM3 for the C3b rev. There are no die scratches on Liberty's face or hair as depicted and this coin has the rusted die effect on the obv surface. I'm stumped once again. The second 8 is definitely higher than the 18. Anyone want to see this in hand? Glad to send it for further study. nlp

Noel, how about a close up of the whole date area, including denticles.

the second 8, is high on many vams for this year..The Die is the DIE which defines the die reverse on this coin.......the vam3 MM is one of definitive reverses of the 83-0 reverses. and there are lines in the face posted, however, yours could be something new, perhaps a LDS with pitting not listed. we are all here for learning ......post some close up pictures of the pitting or rusted die.so we can see what your seeing..love to see them!G

Whew, I had to read that four times before it made any sense to me Gene. I thought that maybe one of our hands may have been clutching a bottle a bit too tightly, but as it turns out, it probably wasn't you.

Thanks ZZZEEEEEEE, I do have a half warm bottle of bonnes farm on the shelf for you......the coin is interesting.....I still think it has the C3b rev........but do to the photo's you have shown I tend to think that the VAM3 OBV is not the same as your coin.meaning a different die marrage......if you had the scratches and or pitting it would simply be an LDS coin, however with the pitting,,,the vam3 coin should show die pitting which it doesn't.......any thoughts on this Idea?
