Great Britain makes a gold coin called the Britannia-it is a bullion coin that comes in four sizes-

the 1/2 ounce size is called the 50 Pound

Has anyone ever heard of one where one side is proof and the other size is a business strike/mint state strike??

I can't answer the question as to whether that sort of error has occurred, but I thought you may find the following web site interesting. It has quite a bit of information about Gold Britannias.

That would be an interesting error if it is? I think that our member Gary Burke collects Brittanias. Hopefully, he will take notice of your question here. I only have one Brittania in my collection and haven't studied up on them to any great extent - maybe now I will. Let's see if Gary see's this or another Brittania collector. I would like to know the answer also.
