Does anyone else think that the Brits took the prize for the best coin in the 2003 Legacies of Freedom Set? I was in the Gulf and couldn't buy any SEs that year. When I did get on like, the only thing I could buy was the LOF set. Glad I did! Their UNC Britannia blew me away (I still call it a reverse proof). The reverse was incredible.

I never heard of this set before so after a bit of searching, I believe the UK coin is the 2002 Silver Britannia with the classic standing design. This reverse was used in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

Is this what the UK coin looks like?

Here is the whole mint set. I'm still getting the hang of lighting and white balance with my new camera. These coins ar silver and stark white.

Philip Nathan the sculptor is amazing. His Britannia on the chariot from 1999/2009 is incredible, and the 2003 design was simple yet powerful. Anyone else wish that The Royal Mint would make ultra-high relief versions of these coins? That would be stunning. It also underscores the sorry state of US coin design today. The best looking coins from the US are recycled classics, like the Walking Liberty SAE and St. Gaudens GAE and the Indian/Buffalo gold bullion. We really need to look to Britain, Austria, Poland, Australia, etc. to inspire our designers to stop making crap and create real art!

Here are some better pics, but keeping the file under 90 kbs really blurs the photo. I really like Walking Liberty, but the reverse prooflike treatment of Britania is realy nice.
