Kurt's four key dates are on their way back to him. They all came out pretty nice, especially the 14-D. I'd give that one an A and all the others B or B-.

If it happens, Kurt will have to do it. I didn't photograph them.

Some of them are better then others. Note that horns and many other details are now much more present. They have a grainy look to them right now but a few weeks on the window sill should help the tone come back a bit. I am happy with the results and they will work perfectly for my circulated set as hole fillers. I am also confident that I will be able to get my investment back out of them if I should ever choose to sell them.

I dont know what happened with the photos. I am using a computer I don't normally use to upload and I think the quality got messed up in the transfer. They look so much better on my camera and in hand.

Steve, great pics on the restored date buffaloes. Reckon I'm going to have to look into that process a little bit. Can you do that with material that has previously had acid dropped on it? I'm also curious to know whether or not you have ever found the '16 doubled die?

Dcreek - Actually, with the exception of the last photo that Kurt put up, most of those photos were pretty frightening! But enough Kurt bashing for now. Yes, you can do this with nickels that have already had their dates restored. All 4 of Kurt's nickels were like that! (ps - the 1915-S was also pretty heavily corroded. It really was not a good candidate for restoration but I attempted it anyway...)

I totally agree! I wish I had put up before photos to show just how bad these coins really were. Steve brought four coins worth Twenty Cents as fillers in a roll of nickels, to four coins that after some time getting re-toned will bring more then 1/10th of Red Book AG prices+?+?+. Great hole fillers for the price!

I wonder if you can use this stuff to restore the steps on the backs of old Jefferson coins?
