I did go back 2 months to see if I could fin this answer but I couldn't. I know cleaning is a tender subject but I just bought a mint set of coins in their original packaging except for the fact that a least one previous owner opened the plastic case and put their finger print on what would otherwise be a beautiful coin. Since I know the case has been opened I no longer need to worry about doing that. But I really would like to remove that darn fingerprint. Any suggestions?

What coin is the fingerprint on? And for how long?

I can't speak for other coins because of lack of wisdom, but I have been told if it is on a Lincoln and isn't addressed right away, it has become an etching into the coin.

I've seen some 5 figure coins in PCGS and NGC slabs with fingerprints!

I'm sure! I'm sure they are the exception to the rule.

Just like the "go figure" coins in SGS slabs!

It's probably there for the duration, now - fingerprints don't come off easily unless acted upon very quickly. If acetone won't do it (search the forum for proper handling guidance), it probably isn't going to happen.

True. I've been lucky with an attempt to remove a print from a cent but it was probably there for a real short time. As noted try Acetone.
