I've tried numerous times and it always takes an eternity and a lot of frustration to open an Air-Tite. Any suggestions?

I use a razor blade to pry it apart.

Cuss words. Lots of them. Works for me.

I use a thin blade pocket knife at the seam to split the halves, although SuperDave's method is most satisfying on the more difficult ones, like the capsules the Mint uses on the Proof and Uncirculated Dollars and Halves.

After splitting them I file a little groove so it's easy to open in the future.

A Butane torch would work without any problems at all. Placing on a hot stove also works. Oddly enough I always hear how difficult they are to open but so far any coins I've purchased in them came apart easy. Might have been just luck.

Easy! I use a small screwdriver, like the ones they put in those eye glass repair kits. Stick it in the seam, twist and work your way around. Takes me 5 seconds.

Try one of these. It won't do much for the coin...But effective none the less
