You use some terms that I'm still in the dark about. The two big ones that concern me are "Lurkers" and "Shawdowmen". Please define.

......And if I've asked two or three years ago and you explained them already, I apologize, I was loosing my wife to cancer then and it was a really bad time.

I am just getting back into the Forum.

Oh, and also how to friend someone please.

Thanks in advance.

sorry about your wife.

I know a lurker is basically somebody who is not a member and/or doesn't post but hangs out and reads some threads but doesn't really contribute. I have no idea about shadowman, but I would guess it would be the same meaning as a lurker.

As I type this there are:
67 members logged in
255 "Lurkers" visiting

It basically registers every IP address that has contact with the server. The majority of them are search engine bots like Bing and Google.

Like most of us I joined immediately to ask a question and I never left. Some people just don't feel like posting and would rather sit back and read.

"Lurker" is a general Internet word, used on all kinds of forums, chatrooms etc. Wikipedia.

I ran a search for "shadowmen" and came up empty. You're sure you saw it on CCF? Where was it used?

Just click on the little icon that looks like two people just above a post made by that person; its popup label is "Add {member's name} to your friends list".

I don't think you can make friends with lurkers.

Just did it again and voilą; it displayed the action. I must not have hit the icon right the first time. What a great place!
