I have quite a number of 1989 Lincoln cents and on one of them there seems to be an extra "G" on the initials of the designer Frank Gasparro.

It is rather weak so I am not sure whether it is just a dirt spot that looks like a "G". Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like the beginning of a zinc rot bubble, the zinc core frequently corrodes underneath the copper plating causing it to rise up and eventually rupture.
