I see the L is weak. Is this real? Thinking of purchasing.

The "s" looks good to me. As does the reverse. A little shine there probably been cleaned at some point. I thought I'd check with some of you guys before I dove in.

I think those images are for a 1909 S VDB, and I think upstate is talking about a 1909 S (because he said he was hoping to get it for $100)

I am hoping some of the experts jump in here .. I am looking for a 1909 S like this one, and would like to hear some opinions too.

Oooh, that's right, I overlooked that! I just noticed that Die #1 struck some S non-VDBs, though, for what that might be worth.

I am in the market for this coin. I not that much help when it comes to authenticity, but it looks nice to me! It is a key date coin, so make sure it's the one you want before purchasing. Sorry if that's not any help, but I had to chime in because this coin makes me excited!

A close-up of the MM would be helpful, but at a distance, it looks authentic. Guessing the grade with only the obverse is almost impossible, but looks to be VF-EF....$150-200 coin.
