I know it's called "fining" but I don't remember how it happens. Your coin also has a nice die clash obv. & rev. The rev. also has a couple of nice die cracks.

As John1 says, its a case of finning. Coin metal squeezes into the gap between die neck and collar as the result of excessive overall striking pressure or increased localized striking pressure that arises from a slight bit of die tilt.

the die cracks on the reverse are easy for me to see, along with the die clash on the obverse..

i am having trouble making out the clash on the reverse- should I be looking inside the columns ?

going to try and find one of Coop's overlays now
