I am leaning more towards die adjustment myself. Nice find, I would say that was a keeper.

Struck through grease. The well-formed design rim and strong reeding are clear evidence of this.

Its a Struck Through Grease. The rim is formed on the outside edge. That shows it was fully struck. If it were are trial strike that area would be weak.

Scobby Due: Thanks! coop: Great pics showing the differences- Thanks for the info! Gutkowski: Thanks and great eye. I was so busy looking at what it might possibly be that I never looked for other things on the coin:

Chuskster, I found some interesting stuff in a customer's roll yesterday. Out of the $100 worth (no silver) I have set aside 7 coins. 95% of the coins were 71 to 74. The 96 P has the same die crack (I think) from the neck to the rim and runs along the high point of the neck as well. Also it has some clashing on the reverse (FG area) and polishing lines. The 72 D looks doubled around nose, lips chin area. I have been searching here (CCF) and have not found anything and there is some sort of triangular area from the end of neck to the top of the "9" on all the 72 D's. Do you have anything? The other coins look like there is "massive" amount of polishing lines / weak strikes / grease filled or PMD (10% odds). I am going to take them to the coin shop and have him look at it. Of the 7, 4 of them are 72D. I do not think it's slots or counting machines as I do not think they can leave marks like polishing on the lowest point or clash marks. Look at some Morgans for polishing lines and clashing. That's how I am coming to the conclusion that these are polishing lines. I could be wrong. Sorry no pics. Thanks Peace
