a very nice weighing scale!
it weighs both sovereign and the half sovereign at the same time, if it doesn't balance, how to determine which coin is at fault?

No, it weighs one coin at a time, you just put it in the appropriate spot.

Nice artifact, by the way. Although I would be happier with a sovereign and a half sovereign (coins).

I have those too and it was much easier to find them.

Not to pay for them.
