Here are a few pics of my strange dime. Looks copper in person, very smooth texture.

dimes, nickels, quarters, halves, and dollar coins are all nickel plated copper(since 1965), so that gives you the brown strip.

this is a normal coin. it just looks like it was dug up from the ground.

Thanks Adam,

I do have a question, why would it be thinner than a regular dime?

well, I don't think that every coin would be the EXACT same thickness.

Do you have a scale? Weigh it and compare it to a "normal" dime.

Thickness is a function of striking pressure so there is some variation in the thickness of coins. Your coin appears to suffer from environmental damage so that could have thinned the coin as well.

Acid dipping will thin a coin. This one looks burnt to me?

HI Coop, it's not burnt, kinda weird. It is very very smooth. The ridges are not as deep set as my other dimes. I just don't know. I will need to get a scale and weigh it.

It's just badly stained/discolored.
