it is interesting to note that the US Trade dollar was meant to be used over seas. as a result most were exported and thus created a collectors market for a collector's market for a US made dollar...
they have been widely faked by china, and many more US coins and coins from all over the world,as there is an interest by collector's...some can be readily spotted as fake, and others require knowledge to detect them. you can post pictures here as there are some who have experience and knowldege about them...one of the best starts is to see if its a grainy/pourus surface indicating a cast replication...another was the weight of 27.2 grams is the official weight and the coin should be very close. I was reading a thread on the spanish reales dollars and the need for the US to have its own currency, the amazing thing is.......HOW ACCURATELY the could produce a coin to weight the same even when thousands are made. so weight is of great importance....on one of the threads I read recently, PGCS has a book on the Trade dollar available to view online at there website...you can search there or perhaps a member can post a link...
I have had to reload my computer so I no longer have the link.

, and yes pictures would help..
