Please let me know if you believe that these two different 1921 Mercury dimes have genuine dates and are not counterfeit coins.

They look like the real thing to me. What makes you think they may be fake?

I was unsure if the the serif on 1 of both coins looked strange.

I was especially unsure about the coin whose date was cleaned excessively.

They are both genuine. On a genuine 1921, the last 1 looks to be "leaning" back like photo #1. An altered coin will generally show a straighter looking 1 and usually higher or lower than the top of the 2. Too bad the 2nd coin is scratched up :-(
