I was out using my metal detector in a park today. First non beach hunt since I got it in May. I woke up Sunday morning wondering why my legs did not want to move...LOL! I found out that you must use a completely different muscle set when hunting on the beach then when hunting on dry land. Managed to dig up $2.25 in clad and a lot of trash. Nothing old and no good varieties or errors.

Looking forward to my next land hunt as soon as I can bend the knee to the ground again. LOL! Sucks getting old. :)

I know exactly what your talking about. At the hunting camps I was getting hits constantly and up&down. I felt like a geezer the next day.
Rest in Peace

I need to get a pin pointer. A pin pointer would definitely shorten the time I have to spend on bent knee. I'm still learning my machine and the practice is helping. I have been digging most targets to see what the machine is telling me. I just need to listen to it more. When the Whites IDX-SL tells you the target is iron...its iron. LOL!

At least I can get up from my chair today without my legs feeling like they have been smacked with a sledge hammer. Maybe I'll get back out tomorrow morning and hit a tot lot. Easier digging.
Rest in Peace

I just learned to use the "pin-pointer" on my Garrett. Very accurate - within an inch or less. The only object that seems to confuse it is a roofing nail, with that zinc coating, although I've learned how to interpret the meter and can usually tell when I've zeroed in on one of those tire-poppers. Oh, and a nail and a coin together will make the meter dance a bit.
