Coin found among old family items. Would very much appreciate opinions regarding condition / grade / value. Thank you.

Wow, this baby has an interesting wear pattern. The edge details look pretty sharp but the center wear is really bad. I'd say overall maybe a VG+ or a F-, but I'm not an expert. I'll be curious to see what some of the more advanced members think. Nice picture.

I'll say G4 also.If I had it to sell I would ask 70.00/80.00 and be willing to talk.

I would think that this is the lack of central detail is due to a strike or die issue as opposed to uneven wear and would give it VG-10 details. It has a nice original look to it.

1810 is noted for it's weak strike, though I haven't seen one this weak my guess is that the die was on it's last legs. It's difficult to come up with an accurate grade, but I'm going to say VG-10.

I would say it is in the VG range considering strike issues are known for this date.

to the Forum! Weak strike or not, I can't go any higher than G-6 for this one, due to the wear and rim damage.

The rim damage looks like it may be from once being in a necklace or something. That would explain the extreme wear in the middle-People touching or rubbing the center of the necklace-a lot. Maybe as a good luck charm too?
Its hard to tell how weak the strike really was because of the wear. Nice eye and chest garment detail as well as good leaf and right wing details.
nice family item. I would keep that.

I couldn't begin to give a grade but the rim and stars are very nice, and such a weak center, I'm think a very weak strike....the necklace idea is interesting

I would agree that there were striking issues that prevented this coin from having appropriate details given it's "apparent" condition. I think with a better strike it would easily hit VG and maybe F. However, the overall "eye appeal" of this coin is what really drags it down in value. With a good strike, it's over $100. As it is I agree with the $70-$80 area and be willing to talk. A nice date and maybe better left with a family member as an heirloom - part of the family treasures, so to speak. My $.02

I'm sort of fond of bust halfs. DA I also think it was weakly struck and grades VG.
