First:

to the Forum!!

Second:
(From CCF Coin Facts)

Walking Liberty Half Dollar General Grading Standards

G4 Good - Rims are defined. Motto IN GOD WE TRUST readable.

VG8 Very Good - Motto is distinct. About half of shirt lines at left are clear.

F12 Fine - All skirt lines evident, but worn in spots. Details in sandal below motto are clear.

VF20 Very Fine - Skirt lines sharp including leg area. Little wear on breast and right arm.

EF40 Extremely Fine - All skirt lines bold.

AU50 About Uncirculated - Slight trace of wear on head, knee and breast tips also on the claws and head.

MS60 Uncirculated - No trace of wear. Light blemishes.

MS63 Select Uncirculated - Some distracting contact marks or blemishes in prime focal areas. Luster may be impaired.

MS65 Choice Uncirculated - No trace of wear. Barely noticeable blemishes.

PF65 - Choice Brilliant surfaces with no noticeable blemishes or flaws. May have a few scattered barely noticeable marks or hairlines.

I'll go with an F-12 for this one. (The Walking Liberty half dollar is one of my personal favorite coin types!)

Thank you for the speedy response good people!

I think that Walking Liberty on any coin is my definite aesthetic favorite - much better than the ghouls found on our Early American coinage (no offense/disrespect to the fans)!

F15

From Bruce Fox's Complete Guide to Walking Liberty half Dollars:

Quote:
F-16 OBVERSE: Liberty's right breast will be nearly outlined, but not complete. Her left breast will begin to show. The sandal will show more detail and be close to complete. Liberty's body will look more rounded than for a F-12 and take on a more sculptured look.
REVERSE: The eagle's feathers will be 2/3 complete and the body will appear more rounded than in the F-12 grade.
Note: The most determining factor of this grade is Liberty's breast line being nearly complete, but not a full outline as is mandatory for a VF-20 grade.

Rest in Peace

I agree with Steve at F-15. It seems a strong fine to me.

I'm going conservative on this one with VG-10. Nearly F-12 but it's missing some skirt lines. Pretty nonetheless!

The scratch is on the reverse. Eagles right wing. Very fine scratch, may be a staple scratch.

Yes it is a doubled die reverse in what I would also grade Fine.
I'm expecting one of these from a great and generous member of CCF in the very near future.

@ Wheezydog. I blame the contest for this thread's resurrection!

Yours is, comparably, in MUCH nicer condition!
