Adam - The hair area above the cannot be accurately used as a wear indicator. Spend some time over on ha.com looking at pics of older MS Lincolns and you'll see what I mean. For true wear the order of inspection is: cheek, jaw, lapel.

Thats a large scratch near the ear. Would you still grade MS-64 with that in mind?

It's not that large, it is exaggerated in the second photo due to light reflection. Perfectly acceptable on a 64 coin.
