Hey all,

I'm a newbie (started looking at error coins like 3 days ago). I was wondering what are the most desirable Canadian error coins out there? I have a few I think are interesting. I have a 1971 Quarter with the "A" and "N" flattened out and fat. I have a lot of pennies with smashed up rims and tool error twoonies..etc. I have a good idea of some of them, like the 1965 "pointed" 5 penny. But I guess I really want to know what is the most sought after. I also have no idea how much those carboard coin cases are, are they expensive?

Thanks much,
Susan

Some on this forum would say the 1859 Brass Penny (right Pattiewhack?) but, I'm sure that there are others.

Thanks for the welcome! :) If I find anything under 1940 I think is a keeper, if I find anything in the 1900's, I think I'll be lucky! LOL Thanks again! :D

the newest most modern Canadian rarity is the 2006 5 cent coin with no "P" under the queens portrait. These are not magnetic which indicates they are not plated steel or pure nickel. One has to assume they are cupro-nickel. I ground into the edge of one about 1/16 of an inch and it seemed to be all one solid alloy. Two or three sellers have these on ebay at about $5 per coin or $35 per roll.

I think Pattiewhack mentioned and from the research I did for him to try and find him this coin that the 1859 was the only year the brass version was made.

Oops. Sorry, and welcome to the forums also.

1859 brass cent- trial issue that circulated; 1872H V/A half dollar, a similar quarter dollar has surfaced, New Zealand-Canada mule, and the quarters with the medallion mules are interesting errors.
