It still seems to me that gold is a good place to park cash so I'm picking up classic gold coins when I can. Here's the kind I like: no-problem EF to AU common dates with good eye appeal. The premium is about 15% over bullion content. I find them much more interesting than, say, a 1/4-ounce eagle so I'm willing to pay the modest difference in premium.

Interesting piece. I look at the tip of the coronet first and don't see any wear there. The hair was probably never full details so I'm guessing it's a 53 or 55.

I agree with your comments about classic gold. Common-date, classic gold is the way I've gone too.
