I've been doing a bit of roll searching lately and have been curious about different varieties that are not listed in the regular Red Book. In the forums I heard about the Cherry Picker's Guide, so I checked it out at the book store. They only had volume 1, but at $39.95! Is there a cheaper variety reference out there?

www.coppercoins.com is pretty thorough. Is there anything like that online, or do I have to become a member of PGCS or something?

Thanks,

Adam

My site is the most comprehensive listing of die varieties anywhere. There is nothing more comprehensive in print, online...anywhere. There are a few books out there that are decent, but most of them are going to cost $20 or more.

Oh...and to add, becoming a member of PCGS will do nothing for you regarding die variety listing references. Not recommended at all for your purposes.

I totally agree with Chuck; nothing is better than his website for Lincoln Cents. I paid the $39.95 for the Cherrypicker's Guide, but mainly to get the nickel listings. It's really good for Indian cents, too, although for Indians this is a good site too http://indiancent.wikispaces.com/ Another book that is pretty good is "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change" by Brian Allen and Ken Potter. A lot of repetition of Chuck's site and the Cherrypicker's guide, but it can be found pretty cheap in a lot of discount book stores ($17.99 cover price; think I paid $6.99 for mine new.)

FWEIW, I might add that PCGS only recognizes the vareities in the CPG, as far as the snow numbers go.
