Hello, all - I've been looking for high res 2010 Silver Eagles to see the differences between MS66, 69, et cetera... I can't find much. Any ideas?

Most 2010 ASE will grade 68 or 69. 66 would be a very low grade and should have noticeable contact marks, a weaker strike, impaired luster or all of the above. There's really no way to say what will be a 67 or 68 though. The differences are minute. I always think about the luster and eye appeal on ultra high grade moderns and that is very tough to pick up in the best of photos.

Yeah... I have a couple that are REALLY nice... one has a surface small black spot (could just be something that could be removed, but I haven't yet tried), and one that has a very weak scratch, maybe about 1 mm long but very shallow. I dunno if they make 69 or 68, and I'm curious to know. I'll send them in, but I was hoping there was a photo database for them (not on PCGS Photograde). A Google image search yields low quality or low resolution pictures.

Quote: I'll send them in, If you meant sending them in to be slabbed, I don't think that would be a good idea. The only way you'd make a little money or break even is if they came back MS70, and with the little imperfections you mentioned they shouldn't come back as MS70's.

Oh, I'm not reselling them. Just curious to see how they grade. I've got a bunch I want to send it for authenticity's sake, so I thought I'd throw them in, too.
I got them because I wanted *really* nice coins (and if they're 68's or 69's, that qualifies, to me) from the year I really got into collecting. If they're less than 67, I'll probably go buy me a proof or two also. =)

Oh, I'm sorry wheatguy! Good advice, but I meant I have a bunch of coins to send in - not just ASE's. =) Some old copper I've picked up, and I'm curious to know how "an official" would grade it and make sure it's all authentic. =) But yeah, if I didn't think they were authentic, I wouldn't be bothering with ASE's! This is all just a part of the learning process for me as I get into this hobby. But your advice is well-taken, thank you Sir! =)
