I cracked my 3rd roll of pennies from the bank at work today that had about 15 steel LWCs and several LWCs in it. All three have been like that. There have been two more rolls that my co-workers neglected to save the steel and regular wheats for me (despite explicit instructions to the contrary.) I even found a 1905 IHC in one. These are not customer rolled rolls. Someone, somewhere must have dumped a whole bunch of steelies and wheats, etc.

Anyone ever experience something like this?

Sadly I feel that such things are signs of how tough some people are finding life during these hard economic times.

In turn, this makes it a good time for those people who can afford to search rolls of coins.

The steelies surprise me. I would have thought that the coin counting machines would reject those.

I don't know all the mechanics of a counter, but this was included a roll from a few boxes of nic's ago. About 1/4 the thickness and 1/10 the weight of a Jeff. Don't know if 40 were there, I tear 'em open all at once, into one pile.

I had an experience better the this lol
I went to a bank and got 10 dollars worth and all of the rolls were old and ratty looking when I opened them I noticed almost all wheat pennies, like 30 a roll. I went back to the bank and got anything in those kind of rolls, I took one with me to show the lady. I got another 12 dollars or so, and the rolls were labeled. 40's, 50's and 30's
got a bunch of wheaties and one steal topping off one of the 40's rolls.

I am still finding steel and regular wheats in odd concentrations in the brinks rolls from the bank. Someone must have dumped a pretty large hoard.

not to unsual

If someone has 10 wheat pennies calls a dealer to ask whatthey will pay for them
the dealer says 3 cents each . The person says 3.00 id spend more in gas to drive to your shop to sell them.
So they just spend them or throw um in a roll.

I ddecided not to save the poorer grade circulated 40's and 50 wheats ( unless they are in nice condition ) I just throw um in rolls.
I just rolled some and think one roll I threw 10 wheats in it. Some 40's and 50's ones with damage and heavey wear
