There appears to be a something going on where the mint mark would be on the coin, maybe it is just the pic or my eyes. can you tell us what you see? is it a raised area or a divit? again maybe it is just an illusion

Under the highest magnification I have it looks like a small ripple of some kind, that why we think it is some form of weak D. Can't see it with just my eyes, and barely with magnifying glass, just the microscope picks it up. Hope this helps. I dare not clean it until I have some idea what it is.

I'm going to have to turn it over to the wheat expert's. Without the coin in hand it is hard to tell.

I would say it is a Die pair Three.

Nice pictures! Looks to be a weak D. I'm not positive, but the die pair but it seems to be 1. It would be worthwhile to submit this coin to PGCS for grading. Whatever you do, don't submit it to ANACS because they will probably put it in a weak D holder. Hopefully PCGS will not see the D and give it a no D on the slab. It would be worth a good bit more as a no D.

BadThad,

For sake of learning! I picked Die #3 Because of the following: the first 2 is sharper than the 2nd, The L in liberty is up on the rim, All letters in trust are equal wear so they must of been an equal state out of the mint(unlike die 1 that can have 2 letters almost missing). And the O in one is mushy on the left side. Can you discuss what I am missing?

Thanks

Thanks for all the observations. Seems a bit confusing , but that's what makes it fun. Two more questions. Would it be wise to soak in distilled water / acetone? and is it worth sending just one coin to PGCS? thanks

Don't clean it! Doing so will certainly lower it's value.

I agree with the Weak-D assessment.

I also agree with BadThad, nice pictures!
