So here's a guy listing an AU 1921 Morgan at a starting bid of $1500. I know, it's not uncommon. ebay is crowded with shysters and the ignorant. For whatever reason, I messaged the seller this time, to let him know his coin was barely worth more than melt value. His reply:

Hey, you don't like it then don't EMAIL me about the coin

Never said I didn't like it. I *do* like it - got a good laugh, after all. I'm going to send him a link to this thread. So, on the off chance that he actually reads it, could you guys share your opinions of this auction?

Hey, I've got one that looks just like that ... I'll let him have it for the low, low price of $750 It's sad though that some people will hope one sucker comes along to give them some insane amount...

Heh, heh, superDave, that just **made** my Saturday morning!

Perhaps he didn't hear you the first time or lost too many gray cells to process your email properly. C'mon, who calls themselves "vanmetallicahalen" and is expected to be taken seriously? I'll bet he got some free listings on estupid and is looking for some suckers. Hey, that XF-AU 1887 Morgan ain't a bad deal @ 3AM...after 2 dozen tequila shots! Heh, heh.

I just noticed he states he accepts checks only. Does that mean he's refusing Paypal? Hmm. Of course the rest of his blurb makes no sense since he's asking for US sellers only

$750! are you kidding? Vanmettallicahalen1975 if you do decide to read this thread Do Not buy Chequer's Morgan it is a rip off price. I have four of them you can get for the Oh so low price of only $500 each, Yes that's right only $500 American Dollars a piece! But don't delay because I only have four left and they will sell out fast at that price. You could make a fortune with them. Especially if you can get your $2250 buy price for them.

Lets see what he says.

I have a roll of 21's all MS I should list them

Yeah, I'm gonna have the auction pulled for that statement, once the fun is over. It's against ebay policy - they require electronic payment methods.

I left the listing up at work (I work at a coin store) my boss saw it and sent a message to the guy "Is there something rare about this coin that is not mentioned?" I can't wait to hear the reply
Rest in Peace

The seller is a predator preying on the gullible. A parasitic leech of the numismatic world. Should crawl back under his rock.

Or get a TV show.........

I wonder what he would ask for an 1893S? 5 or 6 million maybe. It takes all kinds and I believe you can find them all on e-bay!

Maybe he's just trying to recoup his investment in the coin.
