I believe that this one may be a fine, but the amount of wear on Mercury's hair has always proven a bit tough to determine. So what is your grade? Thanks!

Based on those photos, I'd say VG-10... the wings lack detail. However, it is Liberty's hair, not Mercury's (I love the symbolism of this coin representing freedom of thought... it would never be minted today ;)

specksynder- Thanks for the input! I too agree that this is a wonderful coin that overflows with symbolism. In fact, though I am a darksider, this is probably my favorite US coin design. (P.S. Yes, I knew it is a depiction of liberty, but "mercury" is still used as a slang amongst many for this coin design since so many people back when these circulated thought that it was in fact Zeus's traveling companion who was depicted.)

Archraz -- thanks for tolerating me... I was just using the excuse to tell the story of the coin's design again. :)

I really want to give this a F-12 but I can't. Solid VG-10.

VG-10 due to the obverse. Reverse displays fine detail, but the coin won't make it due to the obverse. Great coin regardless.
Rest in Peace

I give it a vg-8 only for the weak rim on the reverse at 10&4oclock. But it may be just the photo

So close to Fine-12. It would probably slab as a F-12.
