Good morning, CCF'ers

I Was going through some of my spare Canadian nickels last night, and came across a 2006 with any kind of a mint mark.

I haven't the newest Charlton book, so shouldn't it have a "P" or Maple Leaf Logo?

Thanks, for your replies.

2006 comes in two varieties:

1) 2006 was the last year to have coins made with cupro-nickel and therefore no mint mark.
2) Coins with the mint mark ( RCM) are steel planchets plated with nickel.

2006 nickels come in 3 styles - RCM logo, P or no marking at all.

Thanks, also, tiker... just a side note, I don't see it in my copy of Charltons.

I see these listed, 2006 Maple Leaf logo, and P mark only.

I had this same question a few months ago. It is a CuNi like nickels from the 1980s and 90s.

Tiker is correct

2006 is the transition year from P to RCM.
All Canadian coins have a minimum of two varieties in 2006.

Pennies have eight varieties between no "p", "p", " RCM", steel-copper and zinc-copper types
Nickels have the 3 types mentioned by Tiker.
Dimes and halves both have "P" and " RCM" types
Quarters have both caribou "P" and " RCM" types, Breast Cancer "P" & Medal Bravery " RCM"
Loonies have no "P", RCM and Olympic loon No "P"
Twonies have both No "P" and RCM for both regular 2006 and 1996-2006 anniversary coins

Thanks, to you too, papledog, No wonder I didn't see it, it was on page 96.

But, it has a fairly small mintage.

Were the RCM types for the Dimes and the Caribou Quarters in sets only, or can they be found (in reasonable numbers) in circulation, too?
