Received a strange looking 2008 Alaska State Quarter in my change from lunch. As soon as she handed it to me at the drive thru and the sun reflected off the face of this quarter I knew it was special. The letters UNITED STATES OF AMERICA appear to have a shadow above them from faint off-grey lines that run between and/or above the letters. ALASKA and the star on the other side are also like that. Any idea what it's worth?

The pictures are not good enough for an accurate diagnosis of your quarter. Maybe Machine Doubling would cause a shadow effect but that would not give the quarter a premium. A much better picture is needed and it can not be through the flip.

My money is on that being caused by a Die Deterioration. Which would mean no error, and no added value.
