Very nice coin! Is that wispy thing in front of the indian's face a scratch, or something else? If that's not a scratch, it looks like a solid 64 to me. I'd still recommend getting it certified though.

$740 sounds about right. I'd definitely get it graded. You could come out great if it grades MS and even an AU grade would be fine at $740.
Gold Indians bag a lot for very minor issues so you might consider ANACS or NGC.

yeah I am going to get it graded when my other one comes in. Send them both off at the same time.

so how do you guys think they will handle this if it is a scratch? XX details scratched?

I think it would grade since the scratch is so thin and unobtrusive. It after all is invisible in the second obverse photo. Surfaces appear MS-62 although the slightly weak detail at the eagle's shoulder might indicate it's an AU coin. If so, AU-58 seems appropriate to me.
Like most Indian eagles, this is a beautiful coin.

The way it appears in the photo where it shows, if it is a scratch, I don't think they will grade it. Hope I'm wrong. If they don't grade it, PCGS will send it back in a "Genuine" slab and NGC will provide a details grade. I hope it grades, because it looks 65 (or better) from the photos without a scratch. Good luck and let us know how it does come back. Personally, I think the Indians are prettier than the Liberties.

well honestly I did not notice it until I took a picture of it. I said to myself what is that. The fields are pretty immaculate accept for the "scratch". Overall I think its a 63 I mean I would like to hope for more but I am not good on the series. I am going to be sending it in to anacs since I dont have a pcgs or ngc account neither is there a dealer in my town. I wish I could get better pictures b.c its a pretty stunning coin
