I was the only one to bid on this coin. I think I may have been the only one to spot an S mint mark too.
At least I think I see it there.
It appears there are some whitman folder issues on this coin.
I can see two small fragments of blue paper on the reverse so it is folder fresh as there were others up for sale that looked related.
Anyways, I have my idea on the grade.
I think I did OK on the price though as S mm's are somewhat better than Philly coins.
I needed a cheap TY 1, I think I got one.

What would you grade this? Me I think it is VF20 maybe VF25.

I'm in the VF category. Obverse probably would grade higher since the entire shield is present but the reverse would bring it down to the VF category. Nice "s" mint mark find. Don't know what you paid, but can't believe it would have been too much. Way to go.

VF25. Nice, S mints are always in high demand on ebay.

Thanks everyone, my coin should arrive in a day or two.
If you would right click and use Select all ....
you would see I had guessed a grade and typed
Me I think it is VF20 maybe VF25. in my first post in white text so it appears invisible up there right now.
Since coin photography is tricky, I will wait until it comes home.
I just hope that it looks better in hand.
I will soak it in acetone for a minute, swish it about.
Then I'll rinse it in distilled water and hair dryer blow dry.
Into a Airtite it will go.
I think it will probably look a little nicer than the image in hand.
Probably, a lot of coins looking like this end up getting dipped in jewelry cleaner and that would ruin it.
Yeah it might look nice and shiny from a dip, but the original condition cannot be duplicated.
Rest in Peace

Now that's a crusty quarter! I'd give it a 20 overall. Very nice!

It's crusty all right. Hopefully the crust hasn't developed into "environmental damage" (a.k.a. Corrosion). A preliminary acetone rinse is a good idea, to remove oily or PVC residue that might be present.

Please post new photos after your treatment!

Not so crusty after all. Just toned with a couple small areas on the reverse that should lift with acetone and patience. Under the eagle and over the second 1 in the date are the only places that really stick out. If they disappear or get better then any of the others should as well.

I took these pictures today when it arrived. I'm happy with it.
