Thinking about getting a bundle of mint bills from the bank today to search for errors, radars and such. From what I've read I can get a $5 bill bundle for $500. Just curious how hard it would be to get a mint bundle from the bank, and if it's even worth the effort?

When you say mint bundles do you mean grade? The mint doesn't make currency the BEP does (bureau of engraving and printing). I don't think you can just ask for a mint condition bundle at the bank and get one it's all by chance.I would get $1,more bang for the buck(pardon the pun)

I went to nearly every bank in my town to buy a brick of uncirculated $2 dollar bills (1000 notes) and was told by all that I could order them, but they could not specify uncirculated.

Finally the last bank I went to (go to a large bank chain) I told them I wanted to open a checking account and savings account and apply for a credit card, but I would only do that if they did this (order the notes) for me.

They got on the phone and called where ever it is they order currency and asked if they had a brick like I wanted and they were told yes. So they said they would place an order and make sure that one was the one they sent.

A couple of days later I had a barcoded shrink wrapped brick from the BEP in my hands.

I don't collect currency at all.

When you want a brick like that, do you want it just to keep, like a box or roll of coins? Or are you looking for unusual patterns in the digits of the serial numbers? If it's the numbers, can't you tell if there are any of what you want just by knowing the first serial number and how many bills there are?

Well I got the bundle of fives to search. It wasn't from the BEP, they are mixed circulated. Still I should enjoy searching them. I thought about getting the ones, but I figured they'd be harder to get rid of.

Most people that buy bricks are interested in resale I think. Yes you can look at the barcode serial numbers and tell almost immediately if there are collectibles in the lot. But to find star notes and such you have to search all 1000 notes. Some notes I sell, some notes I keep, some notes I spend like for tips and such just to spread them around.

And Rob ert I too look through circulated notes for fancy numbers. I am always thinking resale value, but some I keep just for myself (https://goccf.com/t/68468&whichpage=2#552502 or this one https://goccf.com/t/66681#66681).

Robert, As john sugeested with $1 notes you are going to get the most bang for the $1.

Nickleman, Which $2 notes are you selling, for how much and where are you selling these? the reason I ask is that is I have some UNC $2 birthday notes (forget the dates as they are in the bank vault) and would like to sell some of these if it's not too much of a hassle. If you prefer send me a PM. Thanks

Peace
