What years are known for no initial Kennedy halves? Are they true errors? Do they have any premium value? The first one I'm showing is a 1972 d. The other two are 1983 Ps. Are these what the no initial halves look like?

They are part of the design that was not forgotten, but polished off the die. There is always a partial area showing. Just a over polished die. Comparable to the three legged buffalo and 1922 no D cents. What years? They can happen on any Kennedy coins that is the die is over polished to cover clash marks. I see no value for them, but others may.

No offense to coops take on these, but I do see value in the 1982P No Initials JFK.

I don't know about all of the years, but I specifically check all 1982P Kennedy Halfs while I'm roll searching halfs.

Here is one listed on E-Bay slabbed by PCGS MS66 * note PCGS has it listed as Filled Die.

http://cgi.ebay.com/PCGS-MS66-1982-...em3a5100e8f3

Also, the 1982P NO FG also is constantly listed in Coin/ Coin Prices/ U.S Guide to US Coin Prices etc.

MS65- $40.00.

I've never seen any other years for JFK's without the FG listed.

* Here are a few pics of a 1982P I just found last week roll searching.

Check the base/foot of the number 1 in the date for a die marker confirmation*

1966 was another common year for this and it shows up on other years as well. Since it is just an over polished die it may show up on any die, or if it is the result of a filled die it may come and go as it fills, gets cleaned out and then fills again. I don't consider them to be an important error.

Chuckster, I've got a normal base on the 1 on my coin. What's the shape of a digit on obverse got to do with any reverse die polishing?

Here's what one dealer thinks they're worth.
