I have this Indian Head and it has some problems. It is actually showing 4 diamonds, but... well I will let you decide...

Obviously the corrosion is a huge problem, but how does one go about grading a coin like this!
Thanks in advance

It's too bad really. It's a pretty common coin, but it didn't get handled much in it's lifetime.
Thanks for the info, Thad.

I'd go higher than VF-20 maybe as high as VF-35 but with the same details remarks as BadThad (cleaned, environmental and physical damage). Too bad it's a nice coin otherwise.

I actually think with 4 diamonds showing, this could get an EF rating.

The diamonds are on the ribbon that hangs down from the head dress (obverse). There are 4 of them. Wear on the coin will obliterate them. A 4 diamond coin hasn't seen much circulation. It's one of the features that is used to grade the coin.

Buried once, cleaned, rim damage (out of round). Common coin = not really gradable. Oh well...still a piece of history.
