I have 2 1971 proof sets. I was checking on my coins last night and found out that 1971 proof coins that are frosted are valuable. I have a nicely frosted quarter in one and in the other, the half dollar and the quarter are frosted, more on the obverse than the reverse. Also, the penny appears completely frosted all over on the reverse. You can really see this under magnification.
What should I do with these coins? I am in the process of trying to sell all my proof sets. Should I join one of the coin grading services and then send them in to them for grading? Will they break up the set so I have individual coins?
Any answers would be appreciated as I really need to move these coins, and if I have something a little more valuable I need to know what the best thing to do is.

Welcome to the forum!

I would not spend the money to get these coins graded. The Silver Ike's have some value, but the rest probably not so much. Unless they are PF70s, they will cost more to slab than they are worth. I would sell on this forum once you have enough posts.

There were no Eisenhower dollars in the annual proof sets until 1973. The 1971 proof set is just five coins, none of them silver (this was the first year of the Cu-Ni Clad Kennedy half dollar).
