looks like it has had a paint job but looks authentic to me, and when I say pain job I really mean paint job! My 5 year old daughter could do a better job than that. Kind of looks like they took that can of chrome spray paint to it. Maybe the guy thats bid up to 430.00 may be going to dip it. When I look at that thing closer.....is that one of them new ANACS slabs that thing is in? got a rounded bottom like they do anyhow. if it is in a ANACS holder then maybe someone did a job on the picture in photoshop (because if I recall correctly ANACS puts problem coins in the old style holders)

It says it's uncertified, so no ANACS holder. Probably just in a generic Intercept Shield or something of that sort.

I agree either the photo was photoshopped or that coin was painted and either one could cause the "4" thing. But it still looks authentic to me and as always I could be wrong (I have been before and am sure I will be again)

That is a most blatant case of Photoshop tinting, from a seller with a reputation for greasiness. Someone is going to be a very disappointed buyer, or, worse yet, not.

Looks as if it were done with a scanner. The photo editing software might not have been the best in the world either. I sent him a question as I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
Some of my pics done with my scanner and my cheapy photo editing software look just like this. That is one reason I have only setup my albums on the gallery site but won't put up any pics from my scanner as it would only make my collection look horrible.

For someone like myself who's fairly comfortable with Photoshop, the retouching in those images couldn't be more obvious. The guy snagged a color and airbrushed the cheek and fields, with no real sense of subtlety. Here's a quick example from my collection - I did this in five minutes especially for this post: Here's the same coin, before airbrushing: Give me a few minutes, and I'll do one right - that'll change your opinion of trusting auction pics.

Dave,You hit the nail on the head with that one.Thas exactly what he did and I believe he changed the date by inserting the "4" also, and he did a poor job of that as well.He left it to big.WOW,it sold for $1025....

Dave as I look at your craftsmanship , I would have to agree with you and TLS5933 that is axactly what was done in my opioion. Great job.. How mad would ebay get at a person, and is it ethically right to email the buyer and make said person aware of the info A person might have come up with to discredit the sale because of something fishy. And did any one catch that out claus I mentioned that the person had listed it as gold. What do you think of that..

Now, who's in the market for a nice MS65 1904 Morgan? That was 15 minutes' work, with a coin that I photographed for the express purpose of revealing every scratch.
